Job Title: ESL Teacher Aide
Reports to: Campus Administrator/ESL Coordinator
Wage/Hour Status: Non-Exempt

Position Summary:
Assist ESL teachers to provide for the instructional needs of students with language acquisition needs. Assist in the implementation of classroom programs, including behavior management and instructional programs. Assist individual and small groups of students with their assignments. Work under the general supervision of the Principal and immediate direction of the ESL Coordinator/Specialist.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification
- Associate's Degree or equivalent from an accredited College or University (preferred)
- Six months to one year related experience or training (preferred)
- Teacher's Certificate recommended but not required
- 6+ months experience working for Public or Private School
- Experience working with students with ESL services (preferred)
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
- Passion for students, especially students with language acquisition needs
- Ability and patience to work interactively with students, especially students with language acquisition needs
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong computer skills to implement multiple and diverse programs
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships
Responsibilities and Duties
- Assist teacher prepare instructional materials and classroom displays
- Assist in maintaining a neat and orderly classroom
- Assist with inventory, care, and maintenance of materials and equipment
- Assist teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports
- Assist in the implementation of language accommodations and services
- Conduct instructional activities as directed by the ESL teacher for individual students or small groups of students
- Demonstrate support for student management policy
- Assume responsibility for learning how to work with student’s individual needs
- Help supervise students throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom; this may include some campus duties
- Keep ESL teacher informed of ESL student progress/needs
- Maintain confidentiality
- Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings, and special events as assigned
- Perform special projects, during and after normal business hours, and other duties as assigned
